Spring & Fall Bear Hunts

The Black Bear Hunt is a 5 day hunt out of the Lodge, with two hunters per guide. All meals and lodging are included.
The bear begin coming out of hibernation in the early part of April. We start our Spring bear hunts the last part of April, hunting south facing hillsides and back country roads.
During the last part of April and the month of May, the Montana hillsides start to green up and the bear come out of their dens to feed. We will do a lot of glassing of the south slopes and walking the forest logging roads. The roads will green up faster than most other places and the bear tend to enjoy feeding on the shoulders of these old roads. We hunt logging roads, mostly behind closed gates. The bear hunt is by 4x4, mountain bike, or foot. The success rate on our Montana guided bear hunts is 95%!

This is some of the most breathtaking scenery you will ever see, with snow still on the high peaks and bear feeding on the lush green grass below. The color phases of the bear include everything from black to real light cinnamon color. This is one of our most relaxed hunts as we do a lot of glassing and walking, yet we are always very successful.

You will also have the opportunity to see elk, deer, and sheep and maybe even a mountain lion. If you are lucky and get your bear early in the hunt you will have the chance to go fishing for trout, bass and/or northern pike. The pike here average around 15 to 30 pounds.

You will be required by state law to take and pass a grizzly/black bear identification test. This can be done through the mail or over the Internet and we can provide you with all of the information you will need for this.

You should site in your rifle at 1 to 2 inches high at 100 yards. This seems to produce the most success. Once you have downed the bear we will do the rest. This includes capping, boxing the meat, etc. Remember this requires no extra cost from you.
